At ProActive Rehab we believe that a multidisciplinary approach is the best way to address physical recovery, and massage therapy has always been one of the key treatments we offer our clients. Massage has numerous benefits of its own, including stress relief, relaxation, improved sleep and pain relief, and, when combined with physiotherapy, can dramatically improve treatment outcomes.
“Massage therapists can help physiotherapists with hands-on treatment of the soft tissue, loosening muscles so that they can get more done during their treatments,” says Sarah Tyler, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) at ProActive since 2010. “We can soothe the body and help in the recovery from an exercise therapy or aquatherapy session, and we can help with compensating structures in the body of someone working through concussion therapy.”
Sarah was certified as an RMT in 2008 and has since added specializations in advanced cervical techniques for the neck and head, persistent pain, fascial techniques and treating patients with cancer, among others.
We have recently expanded our massage therapy team with the addition of Jaimee Clarkson, whom regular ProActive clients will recognize as one of our physiotherapy assistants. Jaimee became a fully licensed RMT in 2018 and is excited to expand her role at our clinic. Working closely with Sarah and the rest of the ProActive team, Jaimee loves being able to provide hands-on treatment for her clients, along with education on the mind-body connection and advice on how to maintain their progress at home.
With our newly expanded team, we’re happy to offer extended hours and shorter wait times for massage appointments. Jaimee is taking clients 8 am to 1 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 am to 12 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Sarah is available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 7 pm, and Wednesday and Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm.
You don’t have to be a physiotherapy client at ProActive to book a massage with Sarah or Jaimee. Contact us to make an appointment!
